2018 for me was a very turbulent year, but not in the way you might think. You see, the term “turbulence” carries a negative connotation and if I had to sum this year up I would say it was hectic…but definitely not negative.
- Switched apartments
- Promoted from Travel Update to my own BoardingArea domain
- Unhappy with my job so I decided to dedicate most of my time to The Short Final
- Death in the family
- Unexpectedly switched jobs
- Traveled non-stop in Q4 for work
- Under contract on a house
- House fell through
All of these events were back-to-back and this website took a back seat to life. Oh well — it happens.
If you were a consistent reader of this blog (thank you), you undoubtedly noticed the drop off in posting. I won’t apologize because I know in the grand scheme of things you don’t actually give a s*** 🙂
At peak productivity I was just about to hit the six-figure monthly visitor number and now I’m down to three/four-digits per month. This has been tough to swallow, but there’s a reason for the lack of attention. My current job came at a very unexpected time and it came swiftly. How swift? Introduction to job offer in one week and start date just a couple of weeks later.
To throw another wrench into the equation, the position I got was punching well above the weight I was at — jumping about three levels.
Am I happy?
I don’t think I’ve ever been happier.
2019 will be interesting and challenging but I am ready for the challenge. I’m not going to promise X number of posts because as I mentioned before, I highly doubt any of you give a s*** (let’s keep using that term for consistency’s sake).
I’ll still be around, posting when the inspiration fairy touches me. And who knows? I might even bring in a regular contributor or two. Only time will tell, but I can promise you that I won’t fill your news feeds with garbage just to hit my post quota.
I’d like to finish out by saying thank you to all of you who took the time to visit and engage with me and other readers. I sincerely hope the content I’ve produced, while not perfect by any means, at least made you an ounce more inspired.
